New Standards vs old Frameworks
Under the Apprenticeship Reforms, new Apprenticeship Standards will be replacing the old Apprenticeship Frameworks in England (SASE) Frameworks.
Some of these new Standards are available for delivery, so there will be a cross-over period where new Standards are being delivered alongside the SASE Frameworks - once a new Standard is in place the old Frameworks will be replaced.
What's the difference?
Each occupation will now have its own new Apprenticeship Standard linked to a specific occupational level. The new English Apprenticeship requirement (Trailblazer) are defined by the new Standards will typically take three years for the apprentice to attain the required level of competence in the workplace, although it may be less if the individual already has significant training and practical experience.
The formal knowledge and skill elements could be completed in less than three years if the apprentice had acquired previous experience or training.
Individual Standards can be underpinned by National Occupational Standards (NOS). This decision is made as the Standard is being developed by the Trailblazer group. When a Standard follows NOS, it’s likely that it will be similar in content and delivery to the SASE Framework which it replaces.
