What’s the work like?
Duties may include:
- Ensuring sufficient time has been allocated for maintenance of the vehicles to maintain safety and quality standards
- Communicating fleet availability
- Maintaining inventories of all used vehicles
- Dealing with fleet related queries
- Contacting area dealers to obtain bids for new vehicles
- Ensuring the security of the fleet when vehicles are not in use

As a fleet controller you will need to demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to maintain good working relationships
- The ability to remain calm under pressure
- Self-motivation
- Good team working skills
What are the hours and pay?
Fleet controllers usually work a 37 hour week, although part time work or job share may be available depending on the employer. You will be office based and will be expected to carry out some of your work over the phone dealing with queries or generating potential business opportunities.
Salary:
- Fleet controllers can expect to earn between £16,000-£23,000 depending on experience.
